Prologue to a series:  My new project for the next six months will be branding this site and making it a resource for travelers and researchers on Japan.   Firstly, the internet is flooded with information on life over here.   Many of the sites/blogs explore the dynamics between foreigner and native from a linguistic and cultural points of view, to racism and how that makes any sense at all.      What you'll find is that my site will be very insightful, totally presenting a more natural and realistic element to the Japan experience.

The big ones:  Jonathan's, Gusto, and Denny's.   

When in Japan, and you need something quick, descent and that's easy on the wallet, you cannot go wrong with either of the big three choices above.     I will try and make it as simple as possible.  Firstly, when it comes to ranking based on the overall quality, service, and affordability, Denny's ranks highest in every category.   That's based off of some of the most well known food magazines in Japan.   My personal favorite, no!

What sets Denny's apart is that the tables do not have buzzers; old school diner style.   Your waitress has to pay attention to you and wait your table when he/she is aware that you need service.   This is what sets Denny's apart.   The wait staff is really good at knowing when you need them.   The food is good with a wide range of offerings, along with seasonal specials.    For the American, the menu items may not look appealing.   You could expect to see something like pasta served up in a bunch of different ways.   Green leafy vegetables here, and there with eggs with a beef patty somewhere next to that.    Denny's in Japan does not offer the legendary Grand Slam like they do in the states, and the breakfast menu is skimpy at best.    Dinner menu is the same.   

Gusto's is a little better as they offer a salad and soup bar.   I do not want to quote prices here because they are subject to change and I don't want to sound misleading.    The menu is very similar to Denny's and there are buzzers on the table.

Jonathan's is a bit nicer.   Actually, of the three, I like Jonathan's the most.    They have a nice drink bar with teas; 13 different kinds.    A juice bar and freshly ground coffee dispenser where coffee is made.    There menu selections are a little better, and more eclectic.      Another nice thing is that these places are all conveniently located  all over the greater Kanagawa and Tokyo areas.
