Beauty and the Filth
Located in the dark squalid underbelly of Yokohama city, Nogemachi to be exact, are beautiful blossoms fighting to hold on to their branches in this very seedy part of town.
Everything goes on down here: prostitution, gang rackets, murders, you name it. I had to stop and take notice of what I thought was beautiful, in spite of what was around me.
At least I was able to find something associated with beauty. A lonely swing at night waiting for next light for kids to swing from her. Her only company is a cherry blossom tree for the night.

ReplyDeleteThat "seedy" part of town looks pretty nice. Compare that to the seedy parts of Los Angeles which look like a third world shantytown hell hole. I prefer the seedy parts of Japanese cities to the seedy parts of American cities anyday.

I wonder what is the rate of crimes committed against foreigners. It must be pretty low. But as with any other city, the later one stays out the greater the risk??
